How to get your own Google API key.

myda runs on your own Google API key — a private access token that lets the studio generate images on your behalf while Google bills you directly, at their real price. Here’s how to create one and add it to myda. It takes a few minutes.

  1. 01

    Open Google AI Studio

Go to Google AI Studio and sign in with a Google account. AI Studio is Google’s home for the Gemini API — the same models myda generates on — and it’s where your key will live.

  2. 02

    Open the API keys section

Choose Get API key, or go straight to aistudio.google.com/app/apikey. This is the dashboard for every key on your account.

  3. 03

    Create a new key

Select Create API key and pick an existing Google Cloud project, or let Google create one for you. The key is generated instantly — a long string of letters and numbers.

  4. 04

Turn on billing for image generation

Creating a key is quick, but generating images is a paid Google feature. Connect a billing account to your project so Google can charge you directly at their standard rates. myda never sits in between — you pay Google directly, at no additional cost.

  5. 05

    Copy your key somewhere safe

Copy the key the moment it’s shown and treat it like a password. Anyone who has it can spend on your Google account, so never paste it into emails, chats or screenshots.

  6. 06

    Add it to myda

Paste your key into your myda account. We encrypt it immediately with Google Cloud KMS — it’s never stored in plaintext and never sent back to your browser. From there you can start generating.

Keep your key safe

Set a spending limit on your key in Google AI Studio to cap any potential damage, and revoke it there at any time — that invalidates it everywhere, including in myda. We go into exactly how myda guards your key on our security page.
